Special Categories Announced Earlier

Earlier, on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day 2025, Narendra Modi had conferred awards under special categories, including:

  • Climate Action Special Panchayat Award (CASPA),
  • Atma Nirbhar Panchayat Special Award (ANPSA),
  • and Panchayat Kshamta Nirman Sarvottam Sansthan Puraskar (PKNSSP).

Promoting Grassroots Governance and Sustainable Development

The National Panchayat Awards are designed to encourage Panchayats to improve:

  • local governance,
  • service delivery,
  • public participation,
  • and sustainable rural development.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj revamped the awards framework in 2023 by aligning it with the nine themes of Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs). This has made the evaluation system more holistic, transparent, and performance-oriented.

The initiative strengthens the role of Panchayats in translating national development priorities into effective grassroots action and contributes toward the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
