Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has been appointed as India’s new Education Minister following the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan from the Union Council of Ministers.
President Droupadi Murmu has accepted Mr. Pradhan’s resignation with immediate effect. After the cabinet reshuffle, Pralhad Joshi has been entrusted with the Ministry of Education in addition to his existing responsibilities.
Mr. Joshi will continue to oversee the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution as well as the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, while now also taking charge of the Education Ministry.
The appointment marks an important change in the Union Cabinet, with Mr. Joshi assuming responsibility for key education policies, higher education, school education, and implementation of major national education initiatives.
