In a major push towards balanced urban development, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced a comprehensive blueprint worth ₹2,900 crore to upgrade infrastructure in smaller towns across the state.

Navayug Palika Yojana
The scheme, named Navayug Palika Yojana, will focus on towns governed by smaller municipalities rather than major metropolitan cities.

Urban bodies have also been categorised based on population:
- Above 1.5 lakh
- Below 1.5 lakh
This ensures need-based prioritisation of projects.

- Encourage growth in sectors like SMEs, BFSI, education, and corporates
Governance & Implementation
- A state-level technical committee will evaluate projects
- Final approvals will be given by competent authorities
- Focus on efficient execution and monitoring
Conclusion
The ₹2,900 crore urban development plan reflects Uttar Pradesh’s strategic shift towards inclusive and balanced growth. By upgrading smaller towns with smart infrastructure and digital governance, the state is laying the foundation for sustainable urbanisation and long-term economic expansion.
