Financial Times Masters in Management Ranking 2026: St Gallen retains the global No. 1 position, while IIM Ahmedabad ranks joint 27th.

The Financial Times Masters in Management (MiM) Ranking 2026 has placed European business schools firmly at the top, while Indian institutions have emerged as particularly strong performers on graduate salary outcomes.

The University of St Gallen’s MA in Strategy and International Management retained the world’s No. 1 position for the third consecutive year, extending its remarkable record to 15 FT MiM No. 1 finishes overall. Portugal’s Nova School of Business and Economics ranked second, while Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Antai College of Economics and Management took third place.

The 2026 ranking evaluates 100 leading English-taught Masters in Management programmes worldwide, using measures including salary, value for money and career progression reported by graduates three years after completing their programme.

FT MiM Ranking 2026: Top 10 Business Schools

Rank Business School Country
1 University of St Gallen Switzerland
2 Nova School of Business and Economics Portugal
3 Shanghai Jiao Tong University – Antai China
4 INSEAD France/Singapore
5 HEC Paris France
6 ESCP Business School France/Europe
7 Vlerick Business School Belgium
8 IESE Business School Spain
9–10 Other ranked programmes

The first eight positions are dominated by European institutions, with Shanghai Jiao Tong University being the only non-European school in that top group.

Note: The FT’s ranking should be treated as a ranking of programmes rather than a simple ranking of universities as a whole.

India’s Big Achievement in FT MiM Ranking 2026

  • One of the most significant findings for Indian students is the exceptionally strong salary performance reported by graduates of Indian business schools.
  • IIM Ahmedabad’s postgraduate management programme ranked joint 27th globally and recorded the highest weighted salary among the Indian schools included in the ranking.
  • Graduates reported an average weighted salary of approximately $199,706 three years after graduation, adjusted for international purchasing power parity.
  • This is a particularly notable result because the salary figure was higher than that reported by graduates of the No. 1-ranked St Gallen programme, whose corresponding figure was about $150,490.

What does this mean?

It highlights an important distinction between overall ranking position and individual career outcomes.

A school can rank lower overall while producing exceptionally strong results on specific measures such as:

  • Graduate salaries
  • Career progression
  • Value for money
  • Employment outcomes
  • Alumni network

For students comparing MiM programmes, therefore, the overall FT position should not be the only consideration.

What Is a Masters in Management?

  • A Master in Management (MiM) is generally designed for students who want to build management and business skills early in their careers, often shortly after completing an undergraduate degree.
  • Unlike the traditional MBA, which generally targets professionals with significant work experience, MiM programmes are commonly aimed at students with limited professional experience.
  • The growing popularity of MiM programmes is particularly significant in the current employment environment.
  • According to recent FT reporting, global applications to MiM programmes increased 7% in 2025, compared with a 2% increase for MBA applications.

Why European Business Schools Dominate the 2026 Ranking

The 2026 FT ranking once again demonstrates the extraordinary strength of European management education.

Among the leading institutions are:

  • University of St Gallen
  • Nova School of Business and Economics
  • INSEAD
  • HEC Paris
  • ESCP Business School
  • Vlerick Business School
  • IESE Business School

European schools benefit from strong international networks, multinational student cohorts and close connections with companies across the continent.

The ranking also shows that the global management-education landscape is becoming increasingly diversified, with Asian institutions becoming more competitive.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Antai College’s third-place position is the clearest example of this trend.

Shanghai Jiao Tong Enters the Global Top Three

  • The Antai College of Economics and Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University secured third position.
  • Its performance is significant because it was the only non-European programme among the top eight in the 2026 FT MiM ranking.
  • The result reinforces the growing importance of Asia as a destination for management education.
