Ex-journalist, BJP veteran Balbir Punj passes away at 76

• BJP leader and former Rajya Sabha MP, Balbir Punj, passed away at the age of 76.
• Punj was also a social commentator and author of ‘Tryst with Ayodhya: Decolonisation of India’ and ‘Narrative ka Mayajaal’.
• Balbir Punj Ji worked tirelessly to strengthen the BJP, especially among students, professionals, scholars, and intellectuals.

• Began career in 1971 with ‘Motherland
• Worked for over two decades with Financial Express
• Served as Executive Editor of The Observer of Business and Politics
• Associated with major publications like The Indian Express, Hindustan Times, and others
• He was General Secretary of the National Union of Journalists from 1993 to 1995.
• Punj held several key roles, including Chairman of the National Commission for Youth and a member of the Delhi Finance Commission during 1996-97.
• He later served as Executive Editor of The Observer of Business and Politics from May 1996 to March 2000.
