The Delhi government has announced the launch of a new welfare initiative, Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, aimed at ensuring a secure, educated, and empowered future for girl children in the national capital.
According to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the entire process from application to fund disbursement will be fully digital and transparent, eliminating the need for beneficiaries to visit government offices. Beneficiary data will be updated periodically to ensure smooth implementation and accountability.
The scheme integrates social security with education-linked incentives, reflecting the Delhi government’s commitment to gender equality, financial inclusion, and long-term human capital development.
Key Features of Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana:
Under the scheme, financial assistance of up to ₹56,000 will be deposited in phases, linked to educational milestones. With accrued interest, the amount will grow to over ₹1 lakh at maturity. Eligibility Criteria:
Girls must be born in Delhi, with families residing in the city for at least three years. The annual family income should not exceed ₹1.20 lakh, and benefits are limited to two surviving girl children per family.
