Fintech platform PayU has entered into a strategic partnership with AI company CoRover.ai to introduce AI-powered agentic payment solutions in more than 100 Indian languages and dialects. CoRover.ai is the creator of BharatGPT, a conversational AI platform designed specifically for India.
Through this collaboration, PayU’s secure payment infrastructure will be integrated with CoRover’s BharatGPT-powered conversational AI platform. This will enable users to make payments through voice commands and natural conversations, making digital transactions easier and more accessible for millions of people.
Expanding Digital Payments Through Voice Technology
The partnership aims to create voice-first payment experiences, allowing users to interact with digital services in their preferred language. By combining PayU’s trusted payment systems with CoRover’s conversational AI technology, the companies aim to simplify digital commerce for the next 500 million users in India, many of whom rely on voice-based interactions rather than traditional text-based interfaces.
This initiative is also considered one of the first collaborations between a sovereign large language model provider and a payment aggregator to support AI-driven payment transactions.
Early Use Case: Voice-Based UPI Payments
One of the first applications of this technology will be voice-based UPI payments on Afterlife, a digital succession planning platform powered by CoRover’s Voice AI technology. This feature will allow users to initiate and complete payments simply by speaking commands.
Future Expansion Across Multiple Sectors
The partnership is expected to expand into several industries including:
-
E-commerce
-
Travel services
-
OTT platforms
-
Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI)
The companies also plan to integrate upcoming payment innovations introduced by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), such as UPI Circle and UPI Reserve Pay. These features could allow AI agents to initiate and complete transactions on behalf of users in a secure manner.
Industry Perspective
Manas Mishra, Chief Product Officer at PayU, said the next phase of digital payments will take place within AI-led conversations, especially as more users in India interact with technology through voice interfaces.
Meanwhile, Ankush Sabharwal, CEO of CoRover.ai, noted that AI-powered commerce can become more seamless when conversational agents are able to understand user intent, perform tasks, and complete transactions securely.
Significance
This partnership represents a significant step toward building a voice-first, multilingual digital payment ecosystem in India, making financial services more accessible to a wider population. By combining secure payment infrastructure with advanced AI capabilities, the initiative aims to accelerate the growth of inclusive digital commerce across the country.
