The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Raebareli has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Roche Pharma India to promote academic collaboration and enhance pharmaceutical education and research in India.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Manoj Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi.

Objective of the Collaboration

  • The partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices by providing students and faculty with deeper exposure to the rapidly evolving pharmaceutical and regulatory landscape.
  • Through this collaboration, both institutions will work together to enhance practical knowledge and industry readiness among students pursuing pharmaceutical studies.

Key Initiatives Under the MoU

Under the agreement, Roche Pharma India and NIPER Raebareli will undertake several initiatives, including:

  • Launch of a certificate programme in regulatory affairs for students and industry professionals

  • Guest lecture series by industry experts

  • Knowledge sharing on AI-driven pharmaceutical research

  • Collaboration in drug development and healthcare innovation

These initiatives are expected to help students gain practical insights into modern pharmaceutical technologies and regulatory frameworks.

Government’s Vision for the Pharmaceutical Sector

Speaking at the event, Manoj Joshi highlighted the need for India to strengthen its capabilities in regulatory sciences, biologics, and artificial intelligence in pharmaceuticals. He emphasized that strong academia–industry partnerships are essential for maintaining India’s global competitiveness in the pharmaceutical sector.

The collaboration aligns with the Government’s Viksit Bharat vision and the Biopharma Shakti Mission, which aim to transform India from volume-based pharmaceutical production to value-driven innovation.
