Kavinder Gupta took oath as the 30th Governor of Himachal Pradesh during a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Shimla.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia.
He succeeded Shiv Pratap Shukla.
The Governor plays an important constitutional role in the state, acting as the representative of the President of India and overseeing the functioning of the state government in accordance with the Constitution.
Who is Kavinder Gupta?
Kavinder Gupta is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He served as Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in 2018.
He earlier served as the Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
He also held the post of Mayor of Jammu for several terms.
Known for his organizational role in the BJP and administrative experience in Jammu and Kashmir politics.
