The Indian Navy successfully conducted the IONS Maritime Exercise (IMEX) TTX 2026 at the Maritime Warfare Centre under the Southern Naval Command in Kochi. The high-level exercise brought together naval representatives from across the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
This exercise holds special significance as India prepares to take over the IONS Chairmanship for 2026–2028 after 16 years.
It reinforces India’s position as a key maritime security provider in the Indo-Pacific.
Multinational Participation Strengthens Cooperation:
The exercise witnessed participation from the member navies of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium, along with international officers of the IOS SAGAR.
Countries included Bangladesh, France, Indonesia, Kenya, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Timor-Leste, highlighting strong regional collaboration.
Focus on Emerging Maritime Threats:
IMEX TTX 2026 was conducted in a simulated environment, focusing on:
- Non-traditional maritime security challenges
- Complex operational scenarios
- Improved coordination and information sharing
- Faster and effective decision-making frameworks
The table-top exercise (TTX) format enabled participants to test strategies without real-time deployment challenges.
