The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth ₹1,950 crore with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the procurement of two advanced mountain radars for the Indian Air Force.
The agreement was finalized in New Delhi under the government’s ‘Buy (Indian–Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured)’ category, highlighting a strong push toward domestic defence production.

The mountain radar system has been designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), specifically by its Electronics and Radar Development Establishment.
