The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has inaugurated the Arvind Raghunathan Centre for Theoretical Computer Science (ARtCS), marking a significant step towards strengthening foundational research in computer science.

The centre has been named after Arvind Raghunathan, an alumnus of IIT Madras and founder of Roc360, in recognition of his contribution and support to academic excellence.

Focus on Advanced Research

The newly established ARtCS aims to advance the mathematical and theoretical foundations of computer science. It will promote cutting-edge research in areas such as:

  • Cryptography
  • Computational complexity
  • Algorithms and graph theory
  • Logic and databases
  • Theoretical machine learning
  • Quantum computing
  • Privacy in artificial intelligence

Academic Training Across Levels

The centre will play a key role in nurturing future talent by offering training and research opportunities at multiple levels, including:

  • Undergraduate (Bachelor’s)
  • Postgraduate (Master’s)
