The World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026 commenced in New Delhi and will continue until March 13, 2026. The event features participation from top para-athletes from multiple countries and serves as an important international competition in the para-athletics calendar.

Participation of Top Indian Para-Athletes

Several leading Indian para-athletes are expected to compete in the event, including Sumit Antil, Praveen Kumar, and Mariyappan Thangavelu, who are gold medallists at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris.

Athletes from eight countries are participating in the tournament. These include:

  • Nepal

  • Bhutan

  • Hong Kong

  • Serbia

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina

Classification Opportunities for Athletes

The three-day competition will provide 74 international classification slots across different categories. These classifications are crucial for athletes as they determine eligibility and competition categories in international para-athletics events.

India’s Participation and Past Performance

India has fielded the largest contingent, with around 219 athletes competing in various track and field events.

In the 2025 edition of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix, India delivered an outstanding performance by finishing first in the medal tally with 134 medals, including:

  • 45 Gold medals

  • 40 Silver medals

  • 49 Bronze medals
