Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the e-foundation stones for several infrastructure projects of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at Border Outposts Leti and Indarwa in Araria district of Bihar.

Addressing SSB personnel and local residents, Shah emphasised the importance of maintaining constant vigilance along the India–Nepal border. While noting the friendly relations between the two countries, he cautioned that such ties do not eliminate potential security challenges.

He warned that anti-national elements could attempt to exploit the open border and stressed the need for the SSB to remain alert and further strengthen its intelligence network. Highlighting the role of community participation, the Home Minister underlined that effective communication between SSB personnel and residents of border villages is crucial for timely and accurate intelligence inputs.

Shah also announced that the Centre is preparing to launch a focused campaign against infiltration in the Seemanchal region of Bihar. He stated that the campaign would extend beyond electoral considerations and include action against illegal encroachments within 10 kilometres of the international border, as well as the identification and deportation of infiltrators.

According to the Home Minister, infiltration poses serious threats to national security and adversely affects eligible citizens by straining welfare benefits, employment opportunities, and public resources.

Recalling his election campaign in the Seemanchal region, Shah said the government remains committed to fulfilling its promises and sought continued public support. He further stated that demographic changes attributed to infiltration have impacted states such as West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.

Referring to West Bengal, Shah expressed confidence that border management measures, including fencing and action against infiltration, would receive priority if the Bharatiya Janata Party forms the government in the state.

He concluded by stating that the NDA government in Bihar has received a clear mandate and reaffirmed that strengthening border security and addressing infiltration remain central to the government’s vision for the state’s development and national security.
